Outreach

MCC student helping 5th graders make slime.

The Physical Science outreach program, created by Donna Benson(Geology Faculty) and currently led by Kelli Wakefield (Geology Faculty), introduces the fun of science to hundreds of K-6 students every year.

The targeted schools are title 1 schools with little or no science content. This program allows K-6th graders the opportunity to learn about Geology, Physics, Astronomy, Engineering, and Chemistry through hands-on activities, including creating slime, digging for fossils, making comets and experiencing volcanic eruptions. The program has become a great success with volunteer help from the Physical Science faculty, staff and MCC students.
