We offer the following services to Native / Indigenous students:
Hoop students are under 18 and have not graduated from high school.
The Maricopa Hoop of Learning (HOL) Program is a high school to college bridge program designed to meet the academic and cultural needs of American Indian students.
Why should I do this?
You can earn up to 36 college credits; up to $3,500 in tuition paid for by MCC. Yoiu can attend the5-week Hoop of Learning Summer Institute. This summer institute focuses on how your culture, history, and oral traditions shape the world we live in today and in the the future. You can enroll in the Native American Cultural Pride and Awareness class plus learn film making and other multimedia platforms in the fun and creative MCC New Media Experience Lab. There is so much more!
AII students are adult, over 18 years old, and are recent high school graduates or students returning to education.
Our center is a place of support, both academically and socially, as we serve to encourage, strengthen, and retain the largest population of American Indian students in the Maricopa Community College District. We hope that when you arrive you feel that you are indeed part of a student-centered family environment and we encourage you to meet and interact with a diverse group of students.
What We Can Do
We can help you choose the classes necessary to complete a wide range of certificates or associate’s degrees and/or transferring to ASU, NAU or U of A . Helping you make smart educational choices can get you through college quicker and help you save money. This is a WIN-WIN!
