MCC offers summer camps in apps, theatre, multimedia and music

MESA, Arizona -- Feb. 15, 2018 -- Mesa Community College again offers summer camps for students entering K – 12. These affordable and sometimes free camps provide opportunities to have fun while learning about music, theatre and multimedia technologies. All camps are held on MCC’s Southern and Dobson Campus, 1833 W. Southern Ave., Mesa. Details and registration information is online at mesacc.edu/summercamp.

MCC Animania Madness Camp
6th – 8th grade Tuition: $199

Instruction includes using a variety of 2D and 3D animation tools to move an animated person realistically, lip-sync, animate many daily tasks and cut out figures on a computer using a variety of photo-editing programs, as well as take photography and video skill sets to the next level.

Lively musical sounds of youth celebrating summer fill Mesa Community College’s impressive Performing Arts Center. Required concerts the evenings of June 8 and June 9. The MCC Summer Music Camp is tuition FREE through the donations of MCC Performing Arts Center supporters, the college, faculty and staff.

* Open only to incoming 9th grade through high school senior students who are band, jazz, orchestral or vocal musicians. Students younger than 9th grade who previously attended MCC summer band camp may apply. Camp placement is limited based on instrumentation and enrollment. Students 9th grade and older will be held a spot with a successful audition and completed application packet.

Learning to make apps is fun, exciting and lucrative! At App Camp, students will create a basic app, learn how to program a robot using Swift code and find out what it takes to submit an app to the iTunes App Store.

Learn to be a wiz with photo editing and graphics creation for your best-ever Instagram memes. Plus, up your video, audio and animation skills. MMM Camp delivers fun, interactive instruction about computer graphics, photo editing, 3D modeling as well as basic video/audio editing and animation. Use popular, free, open-source software including Inkscape, Blender 3D, Gnu Image Manipulation Program, Krita, Audacity and LMMS.
