Staff Senate

The purpose of the MCC Staff Senate shall be:

  1. To serve as a forum for open communication and ongoing dialogue among Staff Senators and between staff and college administration.

  2. To address ideas/concerns/opportunities of staff employees and provide a representative voice on matters of common concern to the college administration.

  3. To contribute to the overall success of all staff employees and to foster a spirit of unity, pride, and cooperation among staff employees.

  4. Provide open meetings to express, propose, represent, consider, debate, and recommend action on issues which, upon majority approval, bear the authority of a responsible voice to in college affairs.

  5. Review college policies and procedures to ensure staff employees are kept informed and to advise administration when change may be warranted.

  6. To promote the college’s basic philosophy, missions, and goals, both current and long-term.

  7. Actively endeavor to improve the quality of the workplace and promote an enhanced work environment.

  8. Establish sub-committees to encourage, plan, and implement activities in the best interest of staff employees.

  9. Be informed of issues and recommend processes for improvements.

  11. Staff Senators shall attend all regular meetings as well as special or called meetings.

  12. Staff Senators shall make themselves known to their designated college staff, indicating how they can be contacted, hear their concerns, receive information and suggestions, and communicate these to the college administration.

  13. Continue to build awareness and visibility for the Staff Senate.
