Our primary role of the Property Accounting department at Mesa Community College and the Maricopa Community Colleges is to follow standardized policies with respect to the acquisition, capitalization, management and disposition of equipment for financial statement purposes, compliance with government/sponsor requirements, and to support indirect cost recovery.
We are responsible for performing inventory receiving and distribution, coordinating the disposition of surplus property, moving and assembling furniture, providing operational support for room and meeting set-up and providing copying and document imaging services. We are also responsible for identifying, recording and accounting for fixed assets and updating an asset tracking system.
If that sounds complicated - it is!
We are part of a large collection of materials and assets.
Mesa Community College and the Maricopa Community Colleges follow standardized policies with respect to the acquisition, capitalization, management, and disposition of equipment for financial statement purposes, compliance with government/sponsor requirements, and to support indirect cost recovery.
These procedures are issued to provide guidelines and procedures regarding stewardship required for property assets at Mesa Community College, to assure that College equipment is used only for educational, research, or public service purposes of the College.
These policies are in accordance with the requirements of the Maricopa County Community College District and other applicable laws and regulations governing Arizona State / Maricopa County property.
