New to DRS?

New Student

After you have been admitted as a student and registered for classes at Mesa Community College, your first step in applying for disability services is to complete the online New Student application. Click on the DRS Connect icon on the right side of the DRS homepage or visit the DRS Connect website. Be sure to provide your student email address,, and check it on a regular basis when completing this process.

You must provide disability documentation to DRS. Learn more about the MCCCD policy regarding disability documentation.

It is the responsibility of the student to provide documentation to Disability Resources & Services (DRS), which conforms to the Documentation Policy as part of the intake process.

Documentation must (1) verify the existence of a disability as defined under Section 504 and under the ADA; and (2) establish a clear connection between the accommodations being requested and the effects of the disability.

Students must provide documentation that complies with all applicable requirements of the MCCCD Documentation Policy. If the DRC Manager advises a student that his/her documentation is incomplete, Mesa Community College reserves the right not to provide services or accommodations until all documentation specified in the Documentation Policy is provided. Students submitting only IEPs (Individual Educational Plans) or incomplete documentation, or if a particular accommodation request is not justified by the information provided in the student’s documentation, the student is responsible to pursue whatever additional documentation is required and to pay any costs thereof.

Disability documentation may be provided to the DRS Office in several ways:

  • Upload disability documentation through the DRS Connect application.
  • Email disability documentation to
  • Fax disability documentation to DRS at 480-461-7907
  • Bring in person for electronic scanning.

A DRS Advisor may recommend services if you qualify under the American's with Disabilities Act (ADA) and/or Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973

You will then need to schedule an intake appointment to meet with a Program Advisor. During your intake, you and your program advisor will have a conversation about your disability, the functional limitations or the ways you are impacted by your disability, what challenges you may anticipate during your program of study, and your history with accommodations.

You are welcome to bring a parent or friend with you to any appointment, but you should be prepared to speak or advocate for yourself to your program advisor. A FERPA will be needed before DRS can include your guest during the appointment. A FERPA release can be filled out online. You should expect to arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your appointment if you may require assistance.
