The Health Improvement Center (HIC) offers a workout experience in resistance training through the use of:

  • Sorinex Weight Lifting Platforms
  • Cybex Exercise Machine
  • Smith Machine
  • Cable Cross-over
  • Dumbbells and Core Equipment

Cardiorespiratory fitness can be developed through the use of:

  • Treadmills
  • Stepmill
  • Precore Elliptical Runner
  • Precore Cycles

All Lifetime Fitness faculty have degrees and are Personal Training or Strength and Conditioning Certified through the accredited organizations of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), or National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and are trained and ready to assist you with your strength program.

What we offer

PED 120AF: "Emphasis Weight Training" - is a two credit class providing students flexible access to three fitness facilities at Southern and Dobson: 1) Fitness Center 2) Group Activity Center 3) Health Improvement Center

PED 101WT: "Weight Training" - is a one credit hour class that provides students access to the Fitness Center only at Red Mountain and Health Improvement Center only at Southern and Dobson.

PED 133: "Olympic Style Lifting" - is a two credit hour class to teach and training students in Olympic lifting.
