2018 Fashion Show

April 19, 2018  - Navajo Room

Mesa Community College’s 2018 Fashion Show, “Evening in Paris,” took place in the Navajo Room on the Southern and Dobson Campus, 1833 W. Southern Ave., Evening in ParisEvening in Paris by Jessica Valenzuela Mesa, April 19, 2018.

Ticket prices were $5, or $25 for VIP seating, and were purchased online at mesacc.edu/give-fashion and at the door the evening of the event. All proceeds went to the Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation to provide MCC Fashion Merchandising and Design student scholarships.

“Evening in Paris” began at 6 p.m. with a silent auction of fun fashion and accessories, followed by 20 plus wearable art designs developed as part of a challenge from the Salt River Project (SRP) to highlight saving energy through the use of window sun shade screen material.

At 7:00 p.m. the runway featured over 125 fashion designs from Fashion Merchandising and Design Program students. Five graduating Fashion Design students and two alumni, one of which just showed at New York Fashion Week, modeled their collections of original designs.

“Our students work very hard during the course of their program,” said Evonne Bowling, MCC Fashion Merchandising & Design Operational Program Director. “This event is the culmination of their artistic and skilled energies in garment design and provides each student the opportunity to showcase their incredibly creative work.”

Dillard's, a strong supporter of the MCC Fashion Merchandising & Design Program,  continued the trend set by national shows of providing gift bags to VIP ticket holders. Runway hair and make-up was styled by Moni Luvs Effects.

“We are grateful for the local community support of our program,” Bowling added. “Without the contributions and career support from the fashion and business industry, our program would not be as successful as it has become.”
