As the COVID-19 infection rate increases in Arizona and across the country, we are updating MCCCD travel guidance accordingly. The Chancellor’s Executive Council has agreed that all nonessential travel should be suspended to help curb the transmission of the virus, in accordance with the CDC, the Arizona State Department of Health, and the Maricopa County Health Department.
Therefore, all non-essential business travel, both international and domestic, by MCCCD employees, students, and Governing Board members is suspended through the Spring semester. We will continue to monitor and evaluate the COVID metrics and will adjust the travel restrictions based on the data.
Staying home is the best way to protect ourselves and others from COVID-19. If you have upcoming travel plans that need to be canceled (by choice or because a conference was canceled), please work with your Fiscal Office and direct supervisor to secure a refund. Per the Travel Administrative Regulation, whether the cancellation is initiated by the traveler or is outside of the traveler’s control (i.e., cancellation of conference or event, etc.), the traveler must first seek refunds for any costs paid, and MCCCD will cover the transactions that cannot be refunded.
