Welcome to Fall 2020 and Happy Friday!

Classes officially begin tomorrow for Fall 2020! Yet again, innovative faculty and staff have expanded the ways we are helping our students not just cope but thrive, while keeping our MCC community safe. This past Kick-Off Week has delivered a wealth of information. We’ve compiled some items you may want as quick references while you prepare for the start of classes.

  • Safety on Campus – Masks or face coverings must be worn by everyone while on campus. Details here. As knowledge of preventing the spread of the corona virus has evolved, MCC cleaning procedures have been enhanced for Fall 2020 to exceed the Centers for Disease Control and Research recommendations. Detailed new cleaning procedures are on this Intranet post. Cleaning supplies with use instructions will also be located in each workspace and classroom that is scheduled for use.

  • Student Acknowledgements - All students registered for in-person or hybrid courses are required to complete the Covid-19 Student Return to Campus Acknowledgement. Here is the faculty’s role in the process.

  • Syllabus Statements - The CTL website houses a list of recommended syllabus statements from which faculty can select to include in their syllabuses. This list includes verbiage for the Face Coverings requirement and Class Recordings, which are now particularly relevant. Non-faculty may also want to review these statements for consistency in communicating with students.

  • COVID-19 Reporting - A reminder that if students or staff receive a positive test, they should notify District risk management.

  • Student Online Learning Support - Over the summer, instructions were enhanced to foster student success in our virtual learning environment. We have a new Online Orientation, Student Success Workshops and Canvas 101 for students. More information in the Intranet posting.

  • Faculty Guide for Online Teaching - The eLearning Department has put together a Quick Reference Guide for Faculty New to Online Teaching to help with some compliance questions related to attendance requirements, FERPA & privacy and accessibility.

  • Return to Workplace training is required if you are going to be on campus. Find it in the Employee Learn Center under your My Learning.

  • On-Campus Wi-Fi and Computer Work Areas – Students enrolled in fall classes will have a limited number of spaces to use computers or access Wi-Fi Monday through Friday on both campuses. Students use their own laptops for Wi-Fi sites. Computers are provided in computer work areas. Details are being finalized.

    • Call for Volunteers for Wi-Fi and Computer Work Areas - To serve our students using Wi-Fi and Computer areas on our campuses, we need volunteers. Sign up here.

  • Bookstore – There’s no in-store shopping. Staff is available during retail hours to answer questions; call 480-461-7225. Order books and materials online for delivery. Curbside pickup at Southern and Dobson campus only is available 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., Monday – Friday, August 24 – September 4. Enter Solar Way east off Dobson Road and follow the signs. You will make a left (north) just before the TC building.
