Dear Alumni and Friends,
I am sharing some important updates to the message I recently sent you regarding Mesa Community College’s responses to the coronavirus (COVID-19). MCC and all the Maricopa Community Colleges have closed their campus facilities through April 5, 2020, with possible extensions as this public health situation evolves. Only essential staff remains on campus providing safety, IT, maintenance and shipping/receiving. All athletics and performances are suspended for the rest of the spring semester, which ends in May, and all other student events and activities are suspended through April 5.
Although closing our campuses is an unprecedented action, I am certain many alumni remember our college’s responses to the H1N1 virus and MERSA infections. The standard cleaning procedures and safety protocols we established as a result of those threats are serving us well now.
Of course, you know we continue to support our students in their MCC educational endeavors. The spring semester online classes are being conducted as scheduled. On-campus and hybrid (online combined with on-campus) courses are suspended as they are being restructured to resume remotely Monday, April 6 in an online or alternative format. We are dedicated to our students’ successful completion of the Spring 2020 semester.
Leadership, faculty and staff are working remotely to provide our students services and support such as responding to questions, tutoring, counseling and advising via email, video, our website and chat.
You can find continually updated details about COVID-19 and our college’s responses at mesacc.edu/coronavirus.
I am committed to communicating with you the ways in which we are following the best practices to keep our students, staff, faculty and community members safe and well.
Stay Thunderbird strong and healthy.
