Executive Assistant to the President

Janet O. Felton, Ed.D., is the Executive Assistant to the President of Mesa Community College (MCC). Prior to her serving as the Executive Assistant to the President, she served as the Administrative Assistant to the President and formerly was the Administrative Secretary to the Vice President of Student Services and Part-time Evening Clerk-Typist for the Speech Communications Department at MCC.

In the role of Executive Assistant to the President, Janet provides executive oversight and leadership to various assigned and special projects such as oversight for the operational and capital budget for the Office of the President; United Way Campaign; 2004 Bond Campaign; various regional, local, and state projects.

Dr. Felton's background include experience as an adjunct faculty member teaching community college classes in Business Management, Marketing, Accounting, Human Resource Management and Finance. In her role as faculty member, she has received numerous accolades for her outstanding service to education and teaching in excellence. Additional background includes experience serving as a community liason between the local community and the college; diversity initiatives; and various legislative initiatives.

Community involvement is very important to Janet and she has exemplified this importance by serving in the following organizations. Janet formerly served as the Chair of the Mesa Citadel Salvation Army Advisory Board. Prior to being elected as board chair, she was a member of the Advisory Board. She also serves as a member of the Black Board of Directors Project, Mesa United Way Resource Distribution Committee, Valley of the Sun United Way Committee and Save the Family Board. Former Board President of her homeowner's association, presently is the Intermediate Sunday School Teacher of her local church, Church Announcer, and Church Class Leader.

Dr. Felton earned her Ed.D. in educational leadership from Argosy University, a Master's of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix, and a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration also from the University of Phoenix. Janet was awarded a lifetime college teaching certificate for community colleges in 1992. Dr. Felton continues to expand her background, knowledge and skills in higher education through the numerous executive leadership programs she has completed; of which includes the Thomas Lakin Institute of Mentored Leadership and the National Institute for Leadership Development.
