Rodney Holmes

Dr. Rodney Holmes has been with the Maricopa County Community College District since 1986. His tenure at Mesa Community College began in 1995 as the Associate Dean for Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. In 2002 Rodney became the Dean for Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.  He oversees twelve academic departments and the operations of MCC's Theatre and Performing Arts Center.  In 2008, he accepted the position of Interim Provost for MCC's Downtown Center and served in the role for two and a half years.  

Rodney has provided leadership and direction for MCC building projects, including the $18 million Performing Arts Center and the creation of the Academic Skills Lab.  He has served on more than 170 hiring committees and has mentored more than 45 department chairs in his division. 

Rodney began his career at Phoenix College in the fall of 1986 where he served as a Counselor for 9 years. In 1990 he became Department Chair for Counseling and served for five years, in addition to serving two years as the Chair of the Counseling Instructional Council.  While at Phoenix College, Rodney co-wrote the CPD 150 class that is now the foundation class across the District for the Student Success Initiative.

Rodney has a Bachelor's in History and Sociology from Marshall University, Master's in Counseling Psychology from Arizona State University, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University.
