Distance Learning (taking courses on the internet) can be an excellent way for some students to take courses and accommodate a busy schedule.
Yet great caution is advised — distance learning is NOT right for all students or for all courses.
This can be especially true during the summer when the normal 16-week schedule is compressed into ten very fast-paced weeks!
Please be aware at the beginning: MGT253 will be a WORK-INTENSIVE course — there are thirteen major Projects to complete, thirteen “Study Quizzes” on the reading material in your course book, three “Entrepreneur Interviews” to conduct — and a comprehensive Business Plan to write.
This is a VERY fast-paced course! Due dates will come rapidly, and there is almost no ‘flex time’ to allow for vacations or to catch up for missed work.
Penalties for late submissions are severe. ALL work must be submitted by the final day— NO EXCEPTIONS, NO EXTENTIONS. If it isn’t in by midnight, don’t submit it.
To help you understand the nature of Distance Learning, and to help you do a ‘reality check’ to be sure this approach is right for you, MCC has created a Distance Learning orientation web site.
ALL students are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED to visit this site, go through it carefully, and give this matter your most serious thought — BEFORE starting our course.
To take the Distance Learning orientation, go here and click the “New Students” tab: www.mc.maricopa.edu/distance
