Welcome to Communication Online!

The communication course you have selected will be conducted entirely via the Internet. Taking a course in this manner  offers many exciting benefits as well as some unique challenges. You will want to consider both before enrolling for this course.

Let's first consider the benefits:

bullet Increased flexibilty. You can work at your own pace and set your own study hours
bullet Save time and money by not having to commute to a classroom. No more parking hassles!
bullet Better access to instructor and other students through e-mail and webboard discussions
bullet Access to the most current information using the Internet as a resource.

Now let's look at some of the challenges:

bullet Demands more independent learning.  You will need to take responsibility for your own learning and for keeping up with the assignments.
bullet Lack of face-to face contact with instructor and fellow students.  It is not the same as being in a classroom.
bullet Tendency to focus on or be frustrated by technology - especially when it doesn't work the way it is supposed to.
bullet Time consuming.  If you are taking this course because you think it will be easier than the same course on campus, this is not the course for you.
