The Day Band is the premiere performing ensemble in the MCC Concert Band Program. It is conducted by the Director of Bands, Rob Hunter and Assistant Director Paul Brewer. A select group of 65 players, the Day Band performs a broad and diverse repertoire of standard and contemporary band literature along with occasional transcriptions. The Day Band performs concerts at the Mesa Arts Center, The Chandler Center, at community and school events and with local schools.

Membership in the Day Band is by audition and is open to any

student regardless of major or school you attend. Auditions are held during the spring and summer for the following year. Additional auditions are held near the end of fall semester for the spring semester as openings occur. The Day Band rehearses two times per week during fall and spring semesters. Two hours of academic credit is awarded for participation. Members of the  Day Band supply their own formal attire for concerts. There is no other cost except tuition.  Scholarships are awarded based on audition.
