·         Visit an ethnic grocery store of your choice (not the international aisle at a regular store!)

·         The grocery store must be different than your ethnic heritage (for example, if you are Asian, go to a Mexican or Middle Eastern grocery store).  Some possibilities[2]:

1.  What is the main grain source? Examples are rice, cassava, wheat, corn.  It may be in a cooked product like bread or tortillas.

 

 

2.  Write the name of a fresh vegetable that is new to you.

4.  Write the name and description of a canned vegetable that is new to you.

 

 

5.  Write the name of a sauce or spice that is sold.

 

 

6.  Write the name of a candy that is not familiar to you.

 

 

7.  Look in the frozen food section and find something that is new to you.  Write it here.

 

 

8.  Your choice!  Write something else you find interesting about this grocery store (the smells, sights, sounds, another product sold).

 

 

 

 

 

9.  Buy something and attach the receipt.  It can be inexpensive (less than $1).    Bring it into class and we will have an

"Ethnic Snack Attack" activity.
