The Official Course Description:

General consideration of human nature and the nature of the universe. Knowledge, perception, freedom and determinism, and the existence of God. Prerequisites: None.

This course is an exploration of the historical development of philosophy in the Western world using lecture, class discussion, readings, the internet, videos, group discussions and presentations. The goal of the course is to acquaint you with the major philosophical thinkers of the Western world, their historical, religious and cultural context and for you to learn how to do philosophy.
