Background

I have taught at Mesa Community College (MCC) since 1995.  I have been a fellow for the Maricopa Institute for Learning which  allowed me the opportunity to investigate, research, and develop teaching and learning scholarship.  Prior to MCC I worked for the Arizona Board of Regents (ABOR) as the assistant to the associate executive director for academic affairs.  My primary responsibilities were to facilitate the flow of information from the Chief Academic Officers to the Senior Associates to the Presidents and the Council of Presidents.  I have worked for the University of Arizona, the Council of Chief State School Officers (Washington, DC), and have taught in the Catalina Foothills District (Tucson).  I have been a contributing editor for the
Academic Exchange Quarterly (AEQ). The Academic Exchange Quarterly is a refereed, cross disciplinary journal dedicated to the presentation of ideas, research, methods, and pedagogical theories leading to effective instruction and learning regardless of level or subject.  I also served on the Board of Directors for the Association for Supportive Child Care (ASCC) and on the Executive Steering Committee for the Hispanic Women's Corporation.  I have also served as the President of the Local School Advisory Board for St. Timothy's Catholic Academy. Currently I serve as chairman of the board of the Catholic Community Foundation
