Course Description: Beginning Visual C# (C-Sharp) programming. Including object-oriented, event, and procedural programming using various control objects, data types, arrays, operators, functions, and data processing procedures.
Prerequisites: CIS105 or permission of instructor; CIS150AB Object-Oriented Programming Fundamentals recommended.
Transfers: to ASU as CSE182, CST100, and Computer/Statistics (CS) elective, and to NAU as CS 126
and CIS220, and to NAU as SC or CSCV elective; ABUS-SR (CIS) requires CIS105, CIS162AD and CIS250.
Contact the Computer Science department at ASU to determine the transferability to the Computer Science or Computer Engineering programs.
Required Supplies:
(1) Student ID Card required for lab access. Available at the Kirk Student Center.
(1) USB Flash Drive - A storage device is NOT required for students working at home.
Required Textbook: Murach's C# 2008 by Joel Murach. (2008), Mike Murach and Associates, ISBN: 1-890774-46-2, www.murach.com
Required Software: Microsoft Visual C# 2008 Express Edition (see below for additional options)
Windows Version: Windows XP or Vista is required to install the software. Verify your version of Windows and the hardware requirements at www.microsoft.com/express/support/ before beginning the course.
Options on Acquiring Software: The textbook is NOT bundled with the required software.
Students may acquire the software using one of the options listed below.Grading:
- Currently Visual C# 2008 and 2010 are available for download. Students may use either version. The instructions provided on some assignments will be for 2008. The two versions are similar, so the instructions provided can be adapted to the 2010 version. However, students who plan to work on their projects at home and at the MCC computer lab should use 2008. The computer labs have not been updated to 2008 yet, and 2008 can not open 2010 projects.
- Microsoft Visual C# 2008 Express - Free download through Microsoft at www.microsoft.com/express/downloads/, 2008 under third tab.
- Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Professional (includes C++, VB, C#) available as a free download through MSDNAA:
