Born in Omaha , Nebraska in 1950, the son of a Union Pacific Railroad executive and his wife, Bob and Virginia Brenneman. Mark has one brother, Michael who teaches Structural Engineering at the University of Nebraska , and two sisters, Anne who is Quality Assurance Analyst for Transcription and Word Processing at Alegent Healthcare in Omaha, and Denise who is an occupational therapist with a school district in Omaha . His father passed away in 1998, and his mother still lives in the family home in Council Bluffs , Iowa . |
Married to Denise, and has two children: Jennifer, who is a third year medical student at Emory University Medical School in Atlanta , and Allison, who is a cosmetologist with Fantastic Sam's. Allison has two children, Saidie and Stephen. Mark and Denise have traveled extensively, particularly enjoying a European vacation in 2001. |

After graduating from St. Albert the Great High Central Catholic High School in 1968, Mark attended the University of Wyoming , graduating in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics. |

Mark taught high school mathematics in Cheyenne and Casper , Wyoming; Gallup , New Mexico; Superior and Mesa, Arizona . In 1983, while teaching in Arizona , Mark earned a Masters of Education degree from Arizona State University . |

| In 1984, Mark left teaching to pursue a career in industry, joining Garret Turbine Engine Company in the procurement department. Through the years the company changed to AlliedSignal, and then to Honeywell. He moved to Information Technology, where he held positions as programmer, systems analyst, business analyst, project leader, manager and site IT Manager, leaving in 2001 to return to teaching. Mark has been teaching at Mesa Community College as a residential faculty member in Mathematics since 2002. He is currently pursuing a Masters in Teaching Mathematics from Northern Arizona University , which he hope to complete by 2005. |
