What is this course about?
This course is designed to introduce you to the origins and history of the religions and cultures of the world. This course is different than REL 243 in that it takes a Historical and Social Sciences approach. In this course, we will explore; Intro to the study of History and Religion, Ancient & Oral Religions, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.
The course is taught via WebCT, completely on line!
Each unit has a lecture, lots of web links, video clips, on line discussions, and a chapter to read in the textbook. There is a quiz for each unit, and yes, a Final Exam at the end of the course. Assignments for the semester include two essays, a semester project assignment and lots of interactive on line discussions. There are also recommended videos for you to watch, all now on line!
