- In order to receive lab science credit, you must take GLG
104 in accompanyment with GLG 102.
- GLG 102 & 104 are two separate classes, with two separate
grades, however it is HIGHLY recommended that they be taken
concurrently.
A separate grade is given for this one-credit class and will
be determined as follows (out of a total possible 285 points):
- Labs require full partcipation and attendance. Each lab is worth 10 points (1 lab/week), for a total of 150 points. Portions of the lab may be collected, graded, and given back to put back into your notebook. .
- Quizzes: there will be a weekly assessment at the beginning of most labs, worth 10 points each for a total of 120 points.
- Grades are calculated based on total possible points:

Other Important Details:
- Lab Attendance is required. Missing more than two classes may result in withdrawal from the course.
- If you are unable to make it to lab, you need to contact me ahead of time so we can arrange for you to make up the lab. Some labs require student-student interaciton,a dn con not be made up. Make-up labs/opportunities are only offered for officially acceptable excuses (see your student handbook).
Labs & Quizzes:
- Labs will mostly follow along with the lectures, however, there may be some variability and is subject to change.
- Students may work in groups of 2 or 3, and your group should
have similar answers, however each person is expected to do their own lab
and show their own work.
- There will be a 10-point, closed -book quiz each week on
the previous week's material.
- Your quizzes will be assessing your knowledge from the previous
week's lab. Your labs are your best study guide. You will be provided with
some supplementary material when appropriate (rock id chart, etc.).
- There are no make-up lab quizzes!
- Students who are unable to take the quiz at the appointed
time (due to legitimate official circumstances) must contact me before the
quiz so that arrangements can be made.
Poster:
- Each student will do a poster for the last lab.
- A separate poster requirement and guideline sheet will be
handed out in class. Click here for

Academic Dishonesty
As per your student
handbook, "All students as part of their obligation to the College
assume the responsibility to exhibit in their academic performance the qualities
of honesty and integrity. All forms of student dishonesty, which may include
but not be limited to: cheating, fabrication, facilitation of academic dishonesty,
and plagiarism are subject to disciplinary action."
Withdrawal Policy
- You may withdraw yourself from this class at any time prior
to March 5th (the unrestricted withdraw
deadline)
- After March 5th
and before April 26th you must obtain my
signature for a withdraw. If you are passing you will receive a "W," if
you are not passing you will receive a "Y."
- After April 26th,
withdrawals can not be initiated by the student.
- Considerations for withdraws can be made for extenuating
circumstances.
