Discussion Board - Introductions
Let's take sometime to get to know each other by introducing ourselves in Blackboard's Discussion Board.
Discussion Board Posting:
Reading Messages:
- In Blackboard click on the Discussions link listed under Course Tools.
- Click on the topic Introductions.
- Click on Create Message.
- In the Subject line enter your name.
- In the body of the message state your school or work experience related to computing,
what you are working towards (a certificate, 2-year degree, transfer program, or general
interest courses), your major, and provide us 4 words or phrases that would describe you.- Post the message after entering the information.
- The HTML Creator is an option for those that may want to create a message using HTML.
An HTML entry is not required for this class.
- Consider using a Emoticons for electronic communications.

Next Page Button:
- In Blackboard click on the Discussions link listed under Course Tools.
- Click on the desired topic.
- Click on the Subject of the first message to read the individual posting.
You may reply to a specify entry while reading it by clicking on Reply.- Click on Close This Window to return to the list of messages.
- Click on the Subject of the next message to read the next message.
- After reading the last message, you may click on the Discussions link
listed under Course Tools to return to the Discussions list.
Discussion Topic - Student Discussions:
- The default in Blackboard is to display the first 10 entries, and to see the next set
of entries, click on the next page button.- To see the paging buttons, scroll all the way down while viewing a topic.
- At the bottom there is a drop-down box that shows the page as 1 (1-10), and the
button right next to it displays the page and entries selected in the drop-down.- If there are more than 10 entries, select 2 (11-20), and click on the button to
display the next set of entries.- The following button (sheet of paper with green arrow) is the next page button.
It is usually easier to page through the entries using the next page button.
- In the discussion board there will be topic named Student Discussions.
- Use this topic to post any question you may have for
other students or to share interesting findings related to the
course. Questions related to the course should be emailed to
the instructor for a quicker response.
- Anyone is welcome to answer the question.
- Be sure to enter your name and suitable text to identify the subject in the Subject line.
- Do NOT upload solutions to the various assignments. For programming classes,
it is permissible to upload partial code (a sub procedure or function), but not complete
programs. If you need a programmed reviewed by someone else, email it to your instructor.
