Setting up Mozilla for MCC Mail:

This setup procedure is for the  Mozilla browser and mail software.

Download Mozilla.

Once you have created your MCC mail account, and have installed Mozilla on your computer, you must configure it to access your mail account.

After installing Mozilla on your computer, to begin setting it up, go to Edit, Mail & Newsgroups Accounts on the menu bar. Be sure that you are in the mail editor -- this selection does not appear when in the browser.

From the menu that appears, select Add Account

Account Wizard:

In this menu choose e-mail account and follow the wizard's instructions for setting up your MCC mail account.

Type in your name and MCC e-mail address

Choose IMAP account and the name of the MCC server

Type in your MCC e-mail username

Type in any name you wish for this mail account

Select Next and check your settings.  Then select Finish.

Your IMAP server name:  imap.mc.maricopa.edu

Your MCC SMTP server:  mail.mc.maricopa.edu

This SMTP server (the server that sends out the mail) may not work with your Internet Providers setup.  You may have to use your Internet Provider's SMTP server.  You can find the name of that server in the settings for your ISP's mail, or by calling them.

Setting up the SMTP server
Go back to Mail and News Account Settings
Select Outgoing SMTP Server (SMTP)
Type in the smtp server name -- the MCC one if it will work, or your ISP's SMTP server.  If you use the MCC SMTP server, put your MCC username in the box and check User name and Password.

Preferences Menu:

Once you have set up your mail for the course, you will want to set up your preferences.  Again you must go to the Edit menu and this time choose Preferences:

Most of the defaults are correct in these menus, but you do need to change a few:

Be sure that your mail is set to Variable width font.

Be sure that your Send Format is set to HTML so your formatting bar will appear in your mail editor (so you can underling book titles, use bold face, etc)
