Assignment 1
Q & A
1. I posted the first assignment already by pasting it from MS Word and it looked perfect until it appeared on the bulletin board. I'm not sure why the spacing changed. Have you seen this before? How do I make sure this does not happen on future assignments?
The second lines ended short because you did not let the lines word wrap -- you used the "enter" key in MS Word to go to the next line. When you do that, you put in a computer command to go to the next line. So when you paste the text into the bulletin board, when you read your message, the long line wraps automatically at the end of the window margin, starts on the next line, and then gets to your "enter" command -- sending it to the next line.
2. I posted my introduction to the bulletin board. Although I used the preview function prior to posting to make sure the formatting was correct (it was), I opened my intro from the bulletin board and the formatting was lost. There were no longer double spaces between paragraphs.
After pasting your writing into the bulletin board editor, you must proof read it for these kind of errors that may appear. Microsoft Word uses a different formatting language than html, so some formatting conversions may not be correct. If you do not catch the error until after it is posted to the board, you can still go back to that entry and edit it. At the top of your bulletin board entry, you will notice that there is and Edit icon (it is the pencil shown in the picture below. Select this, and your entry will reappear back in the editor. Now you can correct the mistakes you noticed. The Trash Can icon to the right of the Edit icon is also a way to completely delete your entry.
3. I just had a quick question. Would you be checking the bulletin boards or do we also have to send you a copy of our stuff we post on there?
I read and grade directly from the bulletin board . There is no need to send me a copy.
4. Basically, I just wanted to keep up with my grade and wanted to see if you would e-mail us our score on all the assignments we turned in whether it be on the board or directly to you.
Canvas keeps a running total of your grades in its Gradebook, which you can access from your account at any time. The only points missing from the Gradebook are your extra credit points (Class Forum pooints, Reading Points, Peer Review, and Class Picture). These points are kept in my official gradebook, and I will send you an official grade sheet with your standing in the class (including extra credit points) after you submit assignment 3, 4-5, assignment 10, ass. 12 and assignment 15.
