Using Microsoft Word to type Assignments for the Class Bulletin Board
Because of a word processor's more powerful editing capabilities, including a good spell checker, thesaurus, and grammar checker (if yours has these), it is beneficial to type bulletin board assignments in this word processor instead of the more limited editor of Netscape or Outlook Express Mail, then transfer the text to the board. This may be accomplished very simply using copy & paste. These instructions assume that your word processor has copy and paste features.
Instructions:
When you have finished writing your assignment in your word processor, save it. Then use the "select all" command Edit/Select All) to mark the entire text of the document. Once this text is highlighted, copy the material to the clipboard with the Edit/Copy command. With this text copied to the clipboard (the computer memory), you are now ready to log on to your bulletin board.
Highlight the Assignment bulletin board in which you wish to write and select Create Message.
When the bulletin board editor text box appears, choose the Paste icon from the Edit menu of your web window (using the keystrokes Control V also will paste what is on your clipboard into the bulletin board editor). The text that you copied from MS Word will appear in the editor. Lines should wrap themselves correctly to fill the screen. When the "paste" is complete, check the document for errors in the upload. When finished checking and repairing errors, and you have filled in the subject area of the editor, Post the message to the bulletin board. Remember to double space between paragraphs for ease of reading on the web board.
