COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course surveys significant trends in the contemporary world and considers possible alternative outcomes for these trends.  Emphasis is placed on trend identification and the need for alterntive sets of plans with the future.

COURSE COMPETENCIES

Stuents will develop an appreciation for what the profession of "futurist" entails.

Students will identify different concepts fo time and how they affect human behavior.

Students will understand change and how concepts of change affect attitudes and behaviors.

Students will learn to identify and evaluate contemporary trends.

Students will learn to identify and evaluate contemporary trends.

Students will become familiar with major paradigms, past, and present, and understand how they affect the interpretation of events

Students will develop and appreciation for the arguments, pro and con, involving the scientific and the paranormal frameworks for interpretation and evaluation of what we perceive as reality.
