Phylum Cnidaria includes mostly marine animals such as corals, sea anemones, Portuguese man-o-war, and jellyfish.  All cnidarians have stinging cells called cnidocytes located on their tentacles.  The images on this page belong to class Anthozoa.  Anthozoans include coral and sea anemone.

     This page includes 6 live coral species photographed from our marine aquarium and 4 skeletal remains of coral.  Images 1, 3, 4, & 6 represent calcium carbonate skeletal remains that were secreted by the living coral (polyp).  The names of the live coral (images 2, 5, 7, 8, 9, & 10) are descriptive of their appearance.
