Process
This webquest includes two components. One component you will complete on your own. The other will be a team exercise. Before beginning this webquest you will be assigned to a team of three (3) students.
Individually:
- Using a web-browser of your choice and Internet access, go to the following site and complete the learning style survey. (Note: other surveys are available and may be used. This was selected because it takes very little time, yet provides a brief introduction to help you determine your learning style.)
- Go to: http://www.educationplanner.org/students/self-assessments/learning-styles-quiz.shtml
- Complete the Learning Styles Quiz
- Once your results are displayed you need to copy/paste them into a Microsoft Word (or other word processing program) document .
- With the results window displayed, press ALT+PRTSCR on your keyboard (this copies the information to the clipboard). Note: The screen will not look different.
- Open Microsoft Word by clicking the Start button, All Programs, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word
- Press CTRL+V or select Edit/Paste (if in Word 2003) or click the Paste button (under the Home Tab in Word 2007). Save the Word file as yourlastname-learningstyle.doc and submit it to your instructor.
- Read the information about your learning style as well as the other styles.
- Create a new document, answering the questions
listed below, then save the Word file as yourlastname-ls-reflection.doc and submit it to your instructor.
- What is your learning style?
- Were you surprised at the result? Why or why not?
- What impact will knowing your learning style have on your future learning? (In other words, what will you do differently to ensure your learning experiences are more effective?)
- What impact could differing learning styles have on how you tackle future presentations and projects?
As a Team:
- Share your learning styles with each other.
- Together, present your findings. Create a Microsoft Powerpoint presentation, a one or two page newsletter, or a webpage about learning styles and its impact on teamwork that includes answers to the following:
- Include the names of all team members.
- Identify the learning style(s) of each team member.
- How can knowing the learning styles of each member help to delegate tasks for a project?
- How can knowing the learning styles of each team member help in general communication among members?
- What impact could differing learning styles have on how you tackle future presentations and projects?
- Identify a specific project that one (or all) of you are working on or will be working on for school or for work. Based on your knowledge of learning styles recommend the delegation of tasks needed to complete the project.
- Ensure your presentation, newsletter, or webpage is professional and creative.
- Don't forget to cite your sources of information
- Have fun!
- Share your achievement with the class. Unless directed otherwise by your instructor, post your final presentation, newsletter, or webpage to the course discussion board as an attachment.
