Extra Tips For
Getting Started

The
Access Code and Textbook - Read Carefully >>> Used Textbooks DO NOT Have Access Codes
<<< From The College
Bookstore:
For the online classes, the publisher of the book has agreed to package the access
code with new textbooks available for purchase at the Southern and Dobson
(and possibly Red Mountain) bookstore. You must have the access code to gain
access to the online classes. From The
Publisher: You
can purchase the textbook directly from the publisher. Be sure to purchase
only the MyMathLab Student Starter Kit which
includes the textbook and the access code (card). You will need to click on
the Valuepack(s) link once you locate your textbook
to find the MyMathLab Student Starter Kit. Online Textbook
Only: Some
students choose to purchase only the access code online when they register
for the class and use the online textbook. The online textbook is just an
electronic copy of the textbook with some multimedia features added. Other
students like to have the physical textbook available since it is easier to
read and access. This choice is up to you. The online access code can
be purchased from the bookstore or when you set up your course account. Just
click the Purchase Online Access link when you begin your MyMathLab
Registration process. You will need a major credit card for this. Other Sources - You can purchase used
textbooks online or from bookstores, but they will NOT have the access
code. This access code can be purchased for an additional fee. Again, if you
purchase a new textbook from the Southern and Reusing An Access
Code: If you
have taken an online course in the past year and are currently using the same
textbook as you used in the past year, you may be able to reuse your old
access code. Contact your instructor for help with this. Caution: Do not
unwrap your text until you are certain you want to
take this class online. The textbook can not be returned once it is
unwrapped. Used textbooks DO NOT have the necessary access code. >>> A delay in shipping does NOT excuse you from
missed course work. <<< |
|
|
Caution: You CAN NOT Return The Textbook Once It Is Unwrapped.
Install the
Plug-Ins: Once
you have determined that this course is for you, you can unwrap
the text and remove the access code. Before you create your account, you will
need to install the plug-ins. We highly recommend that you install the
software and plug-ins from the publisher's web site. They are the most
up-to-date versions of the plug-ins. We strongly recommend that you use Internet Explorer 5.5 or
higher. Students have reported numerous problems when using Mozilla and
Netscape Navigator or Communicator browsers with this class. Although AOL is
an acceptable internet service provider, do not use AOL's browser. Use
Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher with AOL. Students have reported problems
using Macintosh computers with some features of MyMathLab. |
