In the Philosophy of Religion, 'panentheism' comes from the Greek pan - 'all' en - 'in' theos - 'god' and, therefore, literally means "all is in God." This definition of God popularized by the German theologian Paul Tillick asserts that all the universe is an expression or extension of the divine nature, but that God is not simply equal to the sum of the parts of the Universe as is maintained in Pantheism. God is the "ground of all being" which both superceeds and exceeds the existing universe.
