Ethical Egoism
A Consequentialist moral theory which holds that the good is best defined as anything that maximizes
my overall best interest. The basic moral principle of an Egoist is: "Everyone should always act so
as to maximize their own overall best interest."
This view should be distinguished from Psychological Egoism which is the descriptive claim that "each
individual always acts in their own best interest." See Psychological Egoism.
