NOTE:  The links on this page will be useful for all students of English as a Second Language.  However, students will need to explore the sites to find materials at the level appropriate for their individual situation.  Remember also that Google search is very efficient at finding English study materials.  If you are having trouble with any area of grammar (articles, preposition, past perfect tense, etc.), try typing the word or phrase into Google and see what comes up!

Dave's ESL Cafe        The most popular ESL site, featuring all kinds of information, including quizzes, slang, pronunciation, etc. Many great grammar exercises.

Randall's ESL Cyber-Listening Lab    A listening site where students may select from multi-level and multi-topic listening activities.

ESL PartyLand  A site with high interest topics and good intermediate and advanced exercises and quizzes.

Online ESL Quizzes    This central site is provided by the Internet TESL Journal, and includes links to many other sites.

Interesting Things for ESL Students    This is advertised as a "fun" study site and includes puzzles and games.

SOON Online Magazine  A free world-wide easy-English literature program.

ESL by Rong-Chang Li  An excellent ESL site with links to many other sites, including listening exercises.

EFA - English for ALL  A free site for learning English with video, lessons, quizzes, and more.

BBC Learning English  Great site about news English, business English, and more.  Includes learning English through native language support.

English Daily Idioms  This superb idiom site has new TOEFL vocabulary, too.

Nuts and Bolts of College Writing    Mechanics section is linked; the whole site is useful for English 107/108 students.

Guide to Grammar and Writing    This is a site compiled by Capital Community College in Hartford, Connecticut.

Purdue University Online Writing Lab    This site includes detailed sections on punctuation and excellent examples.

Common Errors in English  This site is designed by Professor Paul Brian, Washington State University.


Cambridge Dictionaries Online  This is an online dictionary with definitions that include many examples of usage.
