Service Email Accounts

What is a Service Email account?

A Service Email Account is a general access email account that allows general or specific email inquiries to be handled by your staff.

Why would you use a Service Email account?

There are a number of reasons:

1. An email address is a reflection of your department or program. These examples: advising@mcmail.maricopa.edu, urbanhort@mcmail.maricopa.edu, helpcenter@mesacc.edu; are not only more professional - but also clearly describe where the email is going.
2. Email contacts that utilize a personal email account [john.lopez@mcmail.maricopa.edu] count against that individual's mailbox quota.
3. If the individual's email account is especially busy - your customer's email query can "bounce" if the mailbox is full.
4. If the individual is sick or on extended leave - who will answer those emails?
5. A Service Email Account can be accessed by several members of a department or office so there is "coverage" for incoming emails.
6. In the event that an individual is transferred or leaves their current position, there is no disruption in the delivery and response to email sent to your department or program.

Ready to implement a Service Email Account?

Email Web Services at webhelp@mcmail.maricopa.edu requesting a service email account - be sure to give us the desired email name. We will then pass this request along to the mcmail administrator to create the account. Once we receive confirmation back from the mcmail administrator we will contact you with the account information (username and password). This process can take 24 - 48 hours. Please be aware of holidays or weekends when making your request.
