Chapter 30: New Montgomery GI Bill

Veterans who enlisted or entered active duty for the first time after June 30th 1985 are eligible for this program if they meet the following requirements:

• Must have served on active duty for a minimum of two years.
• Must have earned a high school diploma or its equivalent either prior to or during the qualifying enlistment.
• Must possess an Honorable Discharge and must have had $100.00 a month deducted from his/her pay for twelve months, this is $1,200.00 upon discharge

New Students:

1. Follow the Steps to Enrollment for a New Student
2. Apply for Veterans Benefits for a New Student
3. A copy of your DD-214 is required to start your benefits.
4. Complete all the necessary Veterans Administration paperwork:
   • Complete 22-1990 online
     Application for Educational Benefits
     You only need to complete this once.
   • Complete Pay Request doc file or pdf file
     This needs to be completed every semester to receive your benefits.
   • If you have attended another college you need to request your transcripts.

Transfer Students:

1. Complete the 22-1990 online
   Application for Educational Benefits
   You only need to complete this once.
2. Complete Pay Request doc file or pdf file
   This needs to be completed every semester to receive your benefits.
3. If you have attended another college you need to request your transcripts.

Continuing Students

1. Complete Pay Request doc file or pdf file
   This needs to be completed every semester to receive your benefits.
2. At the end of every month you will need to verify your enrollment by calling 1-877-823-2378 or go to http://www.gibill.va.gov .

These rates do not include kicker or college funds.
