Checklist for Success - Student To Do List

Step 1 – Set up your Online Student Center at my.maricopa.edu

Creating your Student Center account is done online from anywhere with internet access. Go to my.maricopa.edu and click on “create a new account”. Follow the instructions provided to obtain your Student ID number, Maricopa Enterprise ID (MEID) and to set your Password. Write down this information or print out the information page and complete the rest of the form.

Step 2 – Student Information Form (SIF)

Completing the admission process requires the completion of this form. It may be submitted in three ways: online, in person or by telephone.


Step 3 – Placement Testing

Placement testing is required for all students and must be done on campus. This is not an admissions test, but a way to assess what level of Reading, English and Math classes are right for you as you begin college. Your Student ID number and a photo ID are required for all testing. Study samples are available online at www.mesacc.edu/testing. Testing services are located at both campuses and is done on a walk-in basis. For more information: 480-461-7480


Step 4 – Academic Advisement/Registration

All students are encouraged to meet with an Academic Advisor to determine a program of study and select appropriate classes. Advisement is located at both campuses, Bldg 38 (Southern & Dobson) and Bldg 5 (Red Mountain). Registration can be completed online in your Student Center at my.maricopa.edu after meeting with an Advisor. If you need assistance in registering, these services are located in the same buildings as Advisement at both campuses.


Step 5 – Financial Aid/Payment Options

Apply for Financial Aid at www.FAFSA.gov and manage through your Student Center. The federal code for MCC is 001077. Other information including scholarships, work study, loans, and etc. at www.mesacc.edu/finaid. Tuition/fee payments can be made in a variety of ways - for more information: www.mesacc.edu/students/cashiers/payment.


Step 6 – New Student Orientation (NSO)/College Success Course (Strategies for College Success) - CPD150 or AAA150

All students should attend New Student Orientation (NSO). NSO provides information to help navigate the college/academic pipeline and acclimate students to college life at MCC. Register for an NSO session that best suits your schedule as a non credit class in your Student Center at my.maricopa.edu. CPD150/AAA150 provides learning strategies for achieving your college/life goals - time management, study skills, note taking, motiva-tion and other essential skills.
