High School Early College Programs

What Are Early College Programs?

Early college programs blend high school and college in a rigorous yet supportive program, compressing the time it takes to complete a high school diploma and the first two years of college. All Early College Programs share a common goal: to raise the high school and college graduation rates for students traditionally underserved in Arizona.

Achieving a College Education

ACE-Achieving a College Education

ACE - Achieving a College Education is MCC's scholarship program designed to improve access to higher education and improve success once enrolled in college. Our goal is to support underrepresented high school students in completing a college education. Making the high school to community college or university transition easier helps to ensure successful completion of your educational goals. Students will complete community college courses and through MCC's Center for Service Learning will integrate academic study with active service to promote community service.

Concurrent Enrollment

Concurrent Enrollment

The Concurrent Enrollment Program gives students the opportunity to take the course on the college campus with other college students. Students will receive the whole experience of taking a college course, preparing them even more for their college career after high school. Basically, concurrent students are under the age of 18 without a high school diploma or GED enrolling in a college course held on the college campus. Students receive college credit for the course.

Dual Enrollment

Dual Enrollment

Dual enrollment is when students are taking college level courses at their high school with fellow high school students. The high school instructor teaches the course. All Dual enrollment courses are held on high school campuses and are taught by high school instructors who have met community college hiring qualifications. Students receive both high school and college credit at the same time.

Hoop of Learning

Hoop of Learning

The Hoop of Learning is designed specifically for Native American high school students in the Tempe and Mesa area. Hoop of Learning gives participants the opportunity to earn college and high school credit at the same time. Students also participate in a program geared to increase academic achievements and prepare students for transfer into college.
