ARTICLE I. NAME
The name of this club will be the "Asian-Pacific Islander Coalition" (A-PIC) of Mesa Community College.
ARTICLE II. PURPOSE
The purpose of the club is to build a broader awareness and a greater appreciation for the cultural heritage of the Asian-Pacific Islander American students at Mesa Community College. It also promotes academic excellence, leadership skill, and social support for a successful assimilation into American society.
ARTICLE III. MEMBERSHIP
1. the club is open to all interested persons at Mesa Community College.
2. Membership shall be automatically denied to any member that does not act in the best interest of the club.
3. No fee is required to join the club.
4. Dismissal from membership shall require a two-third vote of the club members present.
5. Each member shall be entitled to one vote on each matter submitted to vote by the club.
ARTICLE IV. GOVERNING BODY
1. The club shall be governed by a five-member council.
2. The officers shall consist of the following: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and a Public Relations Coordinator. They` shall be elected and will serve a term at the beginning of the academic year.
3. In the event of a vacancy in the membership of the council, for any cause, the unexpired term corresponding to the vacancy shall be filled by a qualified person, appointed by the council and concurred by the club members within two weeks or at the next regularly scheduled club meeting.
ARTICLE V. DUTIES OF OFFICERS
1. To act as a representative of the club for all official school functions.
2. To appoint committee of its club members when necessary and to assumeresponsibility for planning activities for the club.
3. If a member of the officers fails to attend two (2) successive regular meetings of the club of which he or she is a member, he or she shall automatically cease to be a member of the officers, provided he or she is not: a. Excused by the officers, or b. Absent by any reason of illness, or due to reasons beyond his or her control which are satisfactory to the officers.
ARTICLE VI. ADVISORS
1. The club shall have at least one Advisor.
2. Advisors shall be informed of all transactions conducted by the club.
ARTICLE VII. CLUB FUNDS
1. An Advisor must consult with the club treasurer for withdrawal of any club funds: and the treasurer shall then consult the officers for any withdrawal of funds from the club account.
ARTICLE VIII. CLUB MEETINGS
1. Regular meetings will be held twice a month of each month. 2. Special meetings may be called by club officers as necessary.
ARTICLE IX. QUORUM
1. A two-thirds vote of the members present at a club meeting shall constitute a quorum.
