Service-Learning Advisory Board

Our Service-Learning Advisory Board

The Advisory Board is comprised of:

• Community Partners
• Faculty & Staff
• Students
• Center for Service-Learning staff

They meet monthly to discuss great opportunities, service-learning and volunteerism, upcoming events and news.  In addition, they vote on decision-making issues and join together to foster positive change.

Fall Dates

• September 19th from 12:00 - 1:30 pm
• October 17th from 12:00 - 1:30 pm
• November 14th from 12:00 - 1:30 pm

Spring Dates

• February 27th from 12:00 - 1:30 pm
• March 20th from 12:00 - 1:30 pm
• April 17th from 12:00 - 1:30 pm

September Meeting - our Italian Feast

The first advisory board luncheon of the semester started off with an Italian theme - a special thanks goes out to Oregano's for donating the meal in support of our Advisory Board. 

Some agenda items included the following:

• Unfinished Business (from our Spring 2012 Advisory Board meetings)
  • Donation Collection Process: what it is, how it works
  • Arizona Summit on Volunteeerism & Service-Learning (Oct 26-27 at ASU West)
  • Our new department website:  MCCservicelearning.org
  • "Making a Difference Grants" - putting to vote new policies
  • Keeping our students safe with a "Student Accident Process"
• New Business
  • District-Wide Dialogue Day (Sept 21 at Phoenix College)
  • Fingerprinting - how the Fingerprint clearance cards are affecting our students
