  2. Selection for Participation - All applicants will be screened by the college prior to acceptance and will be notified of their status in a timely manner.

  3. Cost - The estimated cost for the 2010 program is 3641.00 USD (United States Dollars), and breaks down as follows:

NOTE: Food is NOT covered as part of your program fee since your apartments are self-catering and personal preferences vary widely between participants. Our recommendation for your minimum food allowance is $900 estimated at $30 per-day for 30 days (we do not collect this money). Participants should plan to bring more money for discretionary spending.

Actual participant cost may vary depending on the number of courses taken, amount spent on food and entertainment, currency fluctuation, and oil prices. Base currency for the Republic of Ireland is the Euro (EUR). For currency conversions visit OANDA.com.

All payments should be made to the MCC Cashier's Office and can be in the form of:

  4. Payment of Program Fees - Program fees exclude tuition and food, and must be paid separately from tuition. Program fees for 2010, excluding tuition and estimated food cost, equal $3200.00. Program fees must be paid no later than March 26, 2010.

You may, if you wish, pay in installments so long as the total program fee is received by March 26, 2010.

  5. Payment of Tuition - Tuition must be paid no later than the first day of class. Tuition is based on the standard MCCD in-state tuition rate of $71 per credit hour. Out of state students are subject to a higher tuition rate as determined by the MCCD Governing Board (see printed Summer 2010 Course Schedule for more information). Some courses may require extra fees in addition to base tuition. See the printed Summer 2010 Course Schedule for more information.

  6. Refunds:

    1. Tuition - Refunds of tuition payments are available and are determined by the policies articulated in the MCC College Catalogue and the printed MCC Course Schedule.

    2. Program Fees - Program fees may be refunded on the following basis:

      1. 100% refund if cancellation occurs on or before March 26, 2010
      2. 75% refund if cancellation occurs between March 27 and April 9, 2010
      3. 50% refund if cancellation occurs between April 10 and April 23, 2010

    3. Program Cancelation - The Study Abroad in Ireland Program requires a minimum of 30 total participants. If there are an insufficient number of participants who sign up for a session, it may be cancelled. In the event of a program cancellation, a full refund will be provided to those participants who have paid their program fee.

    4. Separation from Program - There is NO refund of program fees if a participant chooses to separate, for any reason, from the program; or if a participant is separated from the program for disciplinary reasons.

NOTE - The refund policy articulated above is based on the College's financial commitments for faculty salary, airfare, ground transportation, accommodations, and instructional space in Ireland that have to be paid in advance of departure.

  7. Itinerary Changes - MCC and the Study Abroad in Ireland program are not responsible for any costs incurred by altering an itinerary after tickets (air, train, coach, etc.) have been purchased.
