Barbara teaches Community Involvement and has been an adjunct instructor since 1989. She and two other Community Involvement instructors have recently completed a guidebook for teaching a three credit service-learning course. She also directs the Community, Higher Education, Schools Program (CHESP), which coordinates service-learning projects in the environment, tutoring and with the elderly between BCC and three local high schools. Barbara previously coordinated the 2+4 = Service on Common Ground program between BCC and UCF and has administered various non-profit agencies and programs and is a trainer and consultant in community youth development, drug abuse prevention, peer education and grant writing.
