Excerpt: Mesa Mayor Scott Smith recently participated in the second Mayors Day of Recognition for National Service.
The ceremony recognized AmeriCorps and Senior Corps volunteers serving in Mesa, and Mesa United Way was awarded a five member VISTA project that focuses on serving veterans. Members worked at the Veteran Service Center at Mesa Community College to help build a web-based one-stop-shop for veterans through the City of Mesa.
