Two Mesa Community College scholarship opportunities are available to help provide financial support to MCC students who wish to participate in a Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD) sponsored education abroad program.

SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINE: March 1, 2010

The Education Abroad Scholarships may be used to fund program fees and/or tuition and registration fees. The Maricopa Scholarship Grant funding is limited to TUITION AND FEES associated with a Spring or Summer I program. Students may qualify for both scholarships based on FAFSA scores.

Applications for the Education Abroad Scholarships will be scored based on the following criteria:

  • Letter of intent on how the education abroad program will help you with your personal, educational, and professional goals

  • Two letters of recommendation from an instructor, counselor, or administrator who can address your academic performance, personal or professional achievements, and personal character

  • Personal statement of financial need

  • Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher

  • Completion of the 2009-2010 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form at www.fafsa.ed.gov. If you need assistance completing the form, please visit the Financial Aid Office.

  • MCC Student: Scoring is based on whether the student is a current MCC student in a MCC study abroad program, a non-MCC student enrolled in a MCC study abroad program, or a current MCC student enrolled in another MCCCD program.
 
Applications for the Maricopa Scholarship Grant will be scored based on the following criteria (see application for complete details):
  • Demonstration of Financial Need which requires completion of the 2009-2010 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form at www.fafsa.ed.gov. If you need assistance completing the form, please visit the Financial Aid Office.
  • Grant is open to all students but focuses on student of color and/or under-represented populations participating in MCC's education abroad programs.
