Welcome:

The MCC Property Accounting department is responsible for the recording of all assets and equipment that are purchased and received at the Mesa Community College's receiving docks. Our main responsibility is to ensure that all capital and non-capital equipment and goods are accounted for and appropriate records are maintained in compliance with Maricopa Community Colleges, State, and Federal regulations.

Role of Responsibility

The Property Accounting Department's main role is to maintain and safeguard campus assets through the following methods:

    1. Campus-wide physical inventories
    2. Property Loan Agreements (PLA's) for all college assets and equipment assigned to individual employees and departments for use to conduct college business (on and off campus)
    3. Annual Propery Loan Agreement (PLA) renewals
    4. Proper asset tagging of all college assets and equipment
    5. Comprehensive, cross-referenced records of all tagged assets and equipment across multiple accounting systems
    6. Providing guidance to campus personnel on issues pertaining to the approved administrative rules and regulations for accurate and timely Property Accounting practices and procedures.

Property Accounting practices and procedures include:

  • Asset tagging and inventory
  • Surplus property
  • Donations
  • Transfer and moves of equipment/furniture
  • Other relevant property accounting and stewardship issues
