Vision, Mission, Goals and Specific Responsibilities:

VISION
The Mesa Community College Physical Facilities / Beautification Committee will provide recommendations to the college administration regarding the function and appearance of MCC buildings and grounds, in an effort to develop and maintain a campus environment that is aesthetically supportive of the mission of the college.

MISSION
Our mission is to advocate for an environment which supports the ideals of teaching and learning by inspiring the emotions and creating a sense of well being. The college environment must serve as a motivational tool which improves the quality of life of all those who experience it. The college community must allow for the intermingling of art and nature in a way which is respectful of the limitations of the geographical area, and sensitive to the need to conserve our natural resources. The committee's ultimate purpose is to create an environment which is uplifting to the spirit, inspiring to the soul and supportive of the highest ideals of education.

GOALS

1. To participate in the development of the Campus Master Plan by means of review and discussion with the Vice President of Administrative Services.
2. To interact with other campus committees which affect the campus landscape.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

1. To review landscaping plans in order to provide for tree protection, landscape enhancement, and use of indigenous plants; while taking into consideration campus design, aesthetics, form, function, instructional needs, safety, circulation, visibility, and use by the college community and others.
2. To review and recommend on plans for the placement of outdoor signage and art.
3. To review and recommend practices regarding the development, maintenance, enhancement, and operation of the campus landscape. To review and inspect periodically all campus landscape, as to their general condition, state of repair, replacement, or desired enhancement, including “campus” directory signage,
4. To review and recommend policies for improved litter prevention on campus.
5. To plan and/or coordinate annual project(s).
