  • Clearly define course requirements and expectations
  • Encourage group participation
  • Pair with strong peer models
  • Provide strong verbal cueing
  • Explain verbally all visual materials
  • Provide concrete descriptions and instructions
  • Reduce subtle gestures, facial and social cues
  • Provide feedback for voice tone
  • Provide copies of instructor notes or PowerPoint presentations
  • Recommend a reduced course load
  • Give verbal reminders of assignments and test dates
  • Suggest dropping a class or two if academic load is too heavy
  • Suggest recording meetings outside of class to improve memory retention
  • Inform student in advance of any changes, give details
