What is Welding?
Welding is the most common way of permanently joining metal parts. It is a metal joining process wherein coalescence is produced by heating to a suitable temperature with or without the application of pressure and with or without the use of filler metal.
What are the different Welding Processes covered in the program?
The welding program begins with an introduction to oxyacetylene welding, cutting
and (SMAW) Shielded Metal Arc Welding, also referred to as stick welding. Emphasis
is placed on practice in fundamental position welding and safety procedures.
These safety procedures are also addressed in the (GTAW) Gas Tungsten Arc Welding,and
(GMAW) Gas Metal Arc Welding processes.
What about State and National Certification?
Our program meets certification standards and our faculty prepare students to take and pass their welding certification (ARC, TIG, MIG) according to state and national standards (AWS, API, ASME, and military specification, TIG). All X-rays and metalography will be administered by outside agencies.
What opportunities exist for advancement?
Welders can advance to more skilled welding jobs with additional training and experience. For example, they may become welding technicians, supervisors, inspectors, or instructors. Some experienced welders open their own repair shops.
What preparation does one need to enroll?
Welders need good eyesight, hand-eye coordination, and manual dexterity. You
may be required to complete a physical needs assessment. They should be able
to concentrate on detailed work for long periods and be able to bend, stoop,
and work in awkward positions.
What courses are offered in this program?
Print Reading & Sketching, Gas and Arc Welding, Arc Welding I, Arc Welding II,
Inert Gas Welding, Pipe Fitting and Welding, and many other.

What about Financial Aid?
Financial Aid is available for those students who are qualified. Financial aid

How much is tuition per semester?
Cost per semester periodically changes. Most Welding courses require lab fees.
Consult with your advisor or obtain a current semester college catalog concerning
