Kara Thomson - Co Director of Theatre ActivitiesPhone: 480-461-7975 Fax: 480-461-7350 Email: kthomson@mesacc.edu Specialty: Head of Theatre and Film Design and Technology Bio: Kara is full time Theatre Design Faculty at Mesa Community College’s Department of Theatre and Film Arts. Kara holds a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, and a Bachelors of Fine Arts from Arizona State University. In 2011 she received the Kennedy Center Excellence in Theatre Education Award. She has designed for Arizona Broadway Theatre, Actor’s Theatre, The Nebraska Repertory Theatre, The Illinois Shakespeare Festival, 24th Street Theatre of Los Angeles, and Ms Dolly Parton. Her television work includes the networks ABC, NBC, CBS. She has received Emmy honors for her work on Days of Our Lives and an Emmy nomination for her work on General Hospital. Other awards received for Scenic Design ariZoni for Miss Saigon and The Lion in Winter, the Romulo Soldevilla (UNL) for the Importance of Being Earnest. She has worked on a number of films that have remained mostly in the can. She is a member of the Art Directors Guild, IATSE Local 800, and a member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. |

He also runs the Theatre Outback performance venue at MCC. Chris is an alumni of Arizona State University where he graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Theatre Design and Production. He has been an active theatre professional in the greater Phoenix area for over a decade and has been credited on numerous productions as Technical Director and Scenic Designer. Chris is a member of USITT National and USITT Desert State Chapter. |

When she saw The Phantom of The Opera she fell in love with the beauty of the Theatre. From there she found herself in a few productions before she moved out to Arizona and then continued working as a Stage Manager and Production Manager for theatre productions. She currently works as the Box Office Coordinator for Mesa Community College's Theatre Outback. |
