When: Course offered three times each year online - January, May, and September
Who: RN's with an inactive license and have been out of nursing for no more than 15 years and RN's who have an active license, that is not under stipulation with the AZBN, in nursing and wish to update their skills.
What: 6 credit hour course delivered via the internet on WebCT and MyNursingLab. This course is offered in a modular format; Refreshers can choose to update in medical / surgical nursing, obstetrical nursing, pediatric nursing and/or psychiatric / mental health nursing. All Refreshers will update in modules relating to the core standards of nursing, pharmacology and nursing skills.
Refreshers are required to attend a course orientation on the MCC campus during the first week of class. Once you are enrolled in the course you will be given directions on the orientation date/time/location and directions on how to access WebCT and MyNursingLab.
Be sure to follow the directions on the MCC Online page to set up your MyMCC account and familiarize yourself with the course delivery system.
Students are only required to purchase those textbooks related to their module of study and the skills textbook.
How Long: The course is 12 weeks long. It is
offered three times each year in a non-tradtional semester. A non-tradtional semester cuts across two semesters. For example, a course can be offered summer / fall, fall /spring, etc.
The course is structured with weekly assignments. Course work can be completed ahead of schedule. There are no requirements to be online at any specific times.
This course must be completed prior to taking the precepted clinical course (NUR229).

When you take the clinical course, we recommend that you purchase a current drug reference and a laboratory/diagnostic reference. You may find it helpful to have these books available for reference as you take the NUR228 course.
